Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a vital role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary school setting. A full-time contract opportunity is available immediately through the end of the 2025-2026 academic year, with a strong possibility of extension. This position focuses on providing individualized academic and behavioral guidance to a single highly capable 5th-grade female student. She is verbal and high-functioning, yet requires expert assistance managing significant physical aggression and thriving outside a self-contained classroom.

What we are looking for:

  • Possession of a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate (GaPSC) and Elementary Special Education Certification
  • Experience working directly with students exhibiting challenging behaviors, especially aggression
  • Background in behavioral interventions and structured support environments
  • Familiarity with reading instruction and supporting language arts skill development
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team with dedicated paraeducator and additional teaching support
  • Must be comfortable working on site and open to receiving restraint training (provided if necessary)
  • Dedication to fostering growth in both academic learning and behavioral skills
  • Reliable transportation for a consistent, five-day onsite schedule

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted reading instruction and academic support
  • Implement individualized behavioral strategies
  • Work collaboratively with on-site para and teaching staff to ensure continuity of care and support
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training as required
  • Maintain compliance with district and state guidelines regarding special education programming
  • Document and communicate progress with educational partners
