Job Description and Duties



This limited term position may be extended up to 24 months and has the possibility of becoming permanent.

Under the direction of the Chief of Law Enforcement (CLE) and supervised by the Supervising Special Investigator (SSI), the Special Investigator will assist and oversee the planning, organizing, direction and implementation of a background investigation program and other special projects. The Special Investigator provides assistance to staff involved in background investigations; conduct and compile personal and professional background investigations for public safety candidates by interviewing employers, co-workers, neighbors, law enforcement officials, military personnel, members of the candidates family and personal references; prepares reports on findings; makes recommendations as to background findings. Conduct various special projects related to law enforcement for the CLE.

  • DSH-Sacramento is located at a new 11 floor high rise building.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, which includes up to three days of remote work per week but is subject to change based on the Department guidelines and business needs.
