About Mt Arthur Coal

Mt Arthur Coal open-cut energy coal mine is in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia. The site produces coal for international customers in the energy sector.

BHP recently announced they will retain Mt Arthur Coal in its portfolio, seek the relevant approvals to continue mining beyond its current mining consent that expires in 2026 and proceed with a managed process to cease mining at Mt Arthur Coal by the end of the 2030 financial year and prepare for closure.

About the Role

This role is responsible for working with the Production, Maintenance, CHPP and Technical Services departments to identify business improvement opportunities and deliver solutions to ensure Mt Arthur Coal achieves or stretches beyond productivity, cost and quality targets.

You will report directly to the Superintendent Business Improvement, a member of the Site Leadership Team directly supporting the General Manager.

The role will provide development opportunities through applying, developing, learning or being exposed to various business improvement skills such as:

  • BI project leader: apply a range of BI skills and techniques to guide and coach stakeholders towards sustainable solutions to business priorities
  • Facilitator: organising and leading sessions with diverse stakeholders
  • Analyst: understand the business, pulling together disparate data sources and drawing insights for actionimprovement, SLT Performance centre and Monthly ALT reporting

  • SLT support: coordinate development and refinement of routine and ad hoc materials to support SLT activities and initiatives

The role is permanent, nominally on weekday dayshift with flexibility as required to meet business needs, at least four days per week. This is a residential role based at our Mt Arthur Minesite in Muswellbrook.

About You
