We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in Haverhill, Massachusetts. In this role, you will play a key part in managing and analyzing financial data, including cost accounting and manufacturing processes, to support the company's operational goals. This is a 100% on-site, long-term contract position designed for professionals with a strong background in cost and manufacturing accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and review entries in the General Ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct detailed balance sheet and expense reconciliations, along with in-depth analysis.
• Perform reviews of monthly balance sheets to identify discrepancies and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the monthly financial closing process by preparing necessary reports and journal entries.
• Compile and submit state sales and use tax reports in a timely manner.
• Process weekly payroll, including reconciliation, cash disbursements, and reporting.
• Analyze and cost manufacturing work orders in alignment with the company’s costing methodologies.
• Assist the accounting manager in preparing monthly journal entries related to cost of sales and scrap.
• Evaluate and compare standard costs against actual production costs to identify variances.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on financial and cost analysis to optimize operational efficiency.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, with a focus on manufacturing environments.
• Proficient in standard cost accounting and cost analysis methodologies.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting processes and systems.
• Experience with preparing journal entries and conducting reconciliations for financial closings.
• Familiarity with payroll processing and related reporting requirements.
• Ability to prepare accurate state sales and use tax reports.
