Sr. Project Engineer Apply
Job Description
We are supporting a general contractor that mainly focuses on Federal projects. They are actively looking for a Project Engineer to support construction activities on federal projects, including facilities, infrastructure, and secure government sites. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and government representatives to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all federal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day‑to‑day project execution on federal construction projects, from preconstruction through close‑out
- Assist Project Managers with RFIs, submittals, change orders, cost tracking, and schedule updates
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to ensure alignment with contract requirements
- Review plans, specifications, and scopes of work to identify conflicts, constructability issues, and cost impacts
- Maintain accurate and compliant project documentation in accordance with federal, agency, and contract standards
- Attend project meetings, site walks, and coordination meetings with internal teams and government stakeholders
- Track materials, equipment, and procurement to support construction schedules
- Support quality control, safety, and compliance requirements specific to federal projects
- Assist with inspections, testing, commissioning, and project closeout documentation
- Ensure compliance with EMR, safety plans, security protocols, and federal labor requirements as applicable
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 1–5+ years of experience in construction, preferably on federal, government, or public‑sector projects
- Familiarity with federal agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, VA, or similar is a plus
- Working knowledge of construction documents, specifications, and contracting procedures
- Experience with project controls including RFIs, submittals, schedules, and cost tracking
- Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in secure or regulated environments and follow all project protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- Experience with government compliance requirements, including QA/QC documentation
- Ability to obtain and maintain required background checks or site clearances
- Experience working on active military bases or secure facilities
- Available for 20% travel
