Senior Cloud Data Engineer Compensation: DOE This Senior Cloud Data Engineer role is focused on cloud data and AI/ML platforms and services. The responsibilities include designing, migrating, developing, implementing, and operating Azure cloud-based data platforms and services solutions that align seamlessly with the company’s data and AI/ML strategy and vision. Key responsibilities also involve leading data engineering projects implementation, optimizing and troubleshooting data platforms and services, and migration of existing solutions to Azure cloud. In addition, the Senior Cloud Data Engineer serves as a subject matter expert in Azure cloud data and AI/ML technologies, actively shaping our data and AI/ML platforms, services and engineering processes and plays a pivotal role ensuring the success of our data and AI/ML initiatives. Responsibilities Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables Lead data engineering and operation projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and according to best practices. Implement, execute, and collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data platform solutions. Demonstrate expertise in cloud technologies, particularly in Azure (ADF, ADLS, Synapse, VM, SQL Server, Eventhub, OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, etc.) Provide expertise, guidance, and mentoring to other platform engineers across teams and across projects, as needed, in order promote development of internal skills, talent and experience in new technologies. Understand business processes and consider the business impact (including production support) when designing and implementing solutions. Serve as a technical expert and critical resource, providing guidance and support across internal and external teams Act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent for various projects and teams Provide mentorship and technical leadership to data engineering and operation teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence Optimize platforms and services for performance and cost-effectiveness, leveraging cloud-native services and technologies Work closely with IT Security to ensure compliance with all security policies and requirements and respond to and address security concerns Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines Work closely with operation manager and operation teams to ensure smooth operations of our products and services, meeting all SLAs, audits, compliance and security requirements. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Education / Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (required) Minimum of 10 years' professional experience within IT that includes a minimum of five (5) years’ experience with SSIS, SQL servers, and Azure, specifically in data and AI technologies and services (required) Skills: Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, FERPA, GLBA, PCI, etc.) as they relate to data integrity and privacy Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills Excellent judgment, organizational and problem-solving skills; technical, project and leadership skills. Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on database projects Excellent at identifying and marshaling resources for action Expert knowledge of databases and AI/ML technology and concepts Strong knowledge of virtual server technology Strong knowledge of system integration designs and architecture Strong knowledge in data warehouse and data management Broad knowledge of Windows system, operating system principles, and programming best practices. Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) (especially Agile) and project planning/execution skills including estimating and scheduling. Abilities: Able and willing to: Ability to use good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential and multiple projects are worked simultaneously Ability to gain, understand and apply information and data as it relates essential functions of the position Ability to foster long‑term relationships with stakeholders We look forward to reviewing your application.
