Job Purpose

The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing existing ETL pipelines, diagnosing and resolving production data issues, and designing modern data architectures to enable future data growth. This role requires hands-on development expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, enhance, and improve ETL pipelines to ensure data performance, reliability, and integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues across multiple products and platforms.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and robust data architectures supporting new and existing applications.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert in data transformations, mapping, validation, and ingestion workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, analysts, and software engineering teams to deliver data solutions.
  • Monitor data flows to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Create and maintain documentation to promote knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices throughout the data engineering team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a data engineer or similar role.
  • Strong experience with Oracle and big data tools such as Spark, Scala, and Hadoop.
  • Experience working with major cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies; SAFe experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in healthcare IT, preferably within payer systems or payment integrity.
  • Experience using Apache NiFi for data pipeline development and management.
