Senior Java Developer ARC Group has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Java Developer with a leading organization. This is a hybrid position in Jacksonville, FL working 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. The role is initially a long-term contract opportunity through January 2027, with the potential for extension and/or conversion to a full-time position.

Position Overview The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise applications and technology solutions. This role will participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including technical design, coding, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing application support.
The ideal candidate will have strong Java development experience, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable enterprise Java applications
Create technical solutions aligned with business requirements and organizational objectives
Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and application integrations
Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architecture initiatives
Perform unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and application enhancements
Follow secure coding practices and ensure application reliability, performance, and data integrity
Document technical designs, system specifications, and development processes
Participate in release management and change control processes
Collaborate with developers, analysts, project teams, and business stakeholders
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to other developers
Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional software development experience
Strong experience with Java/J2EE development
Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns
Experience developing and consuming RESTful and SOAP web services
Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
Experience with SQL development and data manipulation
Experience using Git or other modern version control systems
Experience with unit testing, debugging, and software development best practices
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications Experience with modern Java frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, or Hibernate
Experience with front-end technologies including JavaScript, React.js, or Node.js
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience with messaging and distributed systems technologies such as Kafka
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
