GENERAL FUNCTION
The Import/Export Manager leads the movement of shipments containing Eyewear, AFA, POP, Lens, among others through the Luxottica global supply chain by providing accurate documentation in compliance with US Customs requirements . Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment/delivery of imported, exported and domestic goods. Communicates effectively with vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers and transportation carriers to ensure efficient movement of goods across borders. Leads a team of import/export analysts.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitors internal and external performance, reports and any deviation to appropriate program and functional authorities; works closely on corrective action plans.
  • Acts as a single point interface developing and improving transportation methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness, continue to meet the delivery requirements of the customer.
  • Tracks and reports service and Quality performances/claims and ensures committed service levels are met or exceeded.
  • Leads effective and efficient transportation of goods to internal and external customers.
  • Performs cost analysis on transportation expenses and recommends modifications to meet industry best practice.
  • Ensures full compliance for export and import transactions including the completion of export documentation, execution of export license determination, issuance of shippers letter of instruction, filing of Electronic Export Information by use of the US Automated Export System (AES) and export record retention.
  • Interfaces with customs brokers, suppliers and service providers to ensure consistency with defined import/export processes.
  • Develops and maintains procedures and working instructions relevant to the import/export process.
  • Oversees data entry of international distributor sales orders in SAP.
  • Leads the coordination of export shipments for territory of international distributors.
  • Maintains shipping instructions for territory in SAP customer master data and off-line for other departments.
  • Analyzes weekly backorder reports for customers and provides production updates as needed
  • Reviews/maintains sales orders in SAP for accuracy.
  • Investigates shortage/overage claims received from customers.
  • Resolves order transmission and EDI issues.
  • Files ITNs with US Customs.
  • Ensures compliance with customer routing guides.
  • Maintains and sends out documents for wholesale duty drawback.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree with emphasis in logistics, supply chain or business administration
  • 8+ years of international logistics experience
  • Direct experience with import/export shipping
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent time management, decision making, planning and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Teamwork and Team development skills
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements for Transportation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MBA/Masters Degree
  • Experience with import/export of medical devices and FDA regulations
  • Experience with SAP/Manhattan WMS
  • Excellent knowledge of US Customs regulations
  • Hands on ability to trouble shoot and resolve transportation issues preventing production delays and impacts
