Overview
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operational objectives. They oversee all aspects of operations or functions at the site, lead a team of Operations and Area Managers, coach and mentor staff to meet performance goals, and build positive employee relations and leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and the Fulfillment Center to meet and exceed the business plan.
Ensure overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience for either Inbound or Outbound operations.
Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold managers accountable.
Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas and integrating them into improvement plans for the functional area.
Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and within the network.
Collaborate closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other Senior Operations Managers) to secure support and resources for projects and initiatives and provide support for other staff initiatives.
Job Elements
Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
Walk frequently throughout the FC and surrounding area; facilities over a quarter mile in length.
Stand and/or walk an average of 5 miles daily.
Work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, and not air‑conditioned.
Access all areas of the building (ascending/descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
Ability to handle changing priorities and use sound judgment in stressful situations.
Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.
