JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Sr. Patient Accounts Rep is responsible for a high volume of incoming phone calls, works closely with patients/guarantors/visitors, etc to resolve billing/reimbursement issues and establish payment arrangements in a professional, courteous and efficient manner. Sends patient letters, provides appropriate follow-up and resolves accounts according to established guidelines. Works with insurance, collection agencies, attorneys and payors as needed to resolve balances. Assists patients with questions regarding self pay balances and works with co-workers to assist with insurance balances as able.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years hospital or healthcare business office experience with insurance, pre-certification, billing and collections.
  • Experience with Medicaid and Medicare programs in Louisiana.
  • Epic experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Answers incoming phone calls in a prompt, concise, courteous, accurate and professional manner, assisting in maintaining phone coverage throughout the work day, whenever appropriate.
  • Interviews patients and/or guarantor to arrange methods of payment or extension of credit. Secures information relative to patient's financial status; evaluates credit history and determines payment dates based on patient's ability to pay and hospital policies. Approves or disapproves extension of credit.
  • Maintains a system for the collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Monthly reviews with Accounts Receivable Manager on all accounts for transfer to outside agency. Maintains active role with outside agencies as they need further documentation and document account when communication occurs.
  • Works daily accounts assigned by TRAC system and takes necessary steps to resolve account. Coordinates accounts assigned by TRAC with other accounts for same patient or guarantor to try and ensure all accounts are eligible for follow up on the same or similar time table.
  • Explains details of accounts to patients, insurance companies and other governmental or third party plans in accurate, concise, and professional manner. Meets with patients as requested or necessary to ensure patient understands account issues and balances, and their options for payment of balances.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.

Schedule:

Full-Time; Monday - Friday

7:30 AM 4:00 PM

Pay Range:

Hourly/Non-Exempt

$15.00 $21.00; based on work experience
