Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Job Overview Sri. Principal Embedded Software Engineer – Greenville, WIThis fully onsite role requires hands‑on testing and validation inside large vocational vehicles to build connected vehicle embedded solutions. Responsibilities Design and develop embedded software for connected vehicle solutions, including telematics, edge computing, remote diagnostics, over‑the‑air (OTA) capabilities, vehicle network integration, and video recording/streaming. Lead technical direction while remaining hands‑on, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, maintainable, and cost‑effective. Establish architecture standards and best practices for high‑quality, production‑grade software; mentor and lead engineering teams. Drive agile execution and delivery predictability by improving backlog readiness and removing technical roadblocks. Perform hands‑on vehicle validation and testing in manufacturing and field environments. Collaborate with embedded, cloud, front‑end engineers and product owners to deliver end‑to‑end solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience developing embedded software using C/C++; experience with Rust is a plus. Experience on Embedded Linux platforms and with networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP). Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and embedded best practices. Proven technical leadership in hands‑on project management. Experience with OTA updates, cellular‑connected devices, and remote fleet management platforms. Willingness to test on vehicles, including working inside cabs. Occasional travel to customer sites. Outstanding automotive or heavy‑vehicle networking knowledge (CAN/J1939) and hardware platform experience is a strong plus. Benefits Pay range: $104,100.00 – $173,900.00 (dependent on experience and qualifications). Fully onsite; remote/hybrid not available.
