TITLE: SR. QA ENGINEERFLSA STATUS: EXEMPTREPORTS TO: SR. MANAGER, QUALITY ASSURANCESUMMARY:Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of QA, the Sr. QA Engineer, will be responsible for ensuring the quality of various products currently in production as well as prototype products for magnetic recording heads, including monitoring processes and test parameters using Statistical Process Control (SPC) as well as analyzing data and providing reports to the manufacturing teams. The QA Engineer will be responsible for determining the root cause and performing failure analysis for yield and performance-related issues and recommending corrective action. The engineer will also conduct and support ISO9001 internal/external audit. This position is located in Milpitas, California.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Reviews and monitors quality of various high volume and newly launched productsReviews and analyzes data using SPC, creates reports, and presents findings; recommends corrective action as neededCollaborates with other product engineering groups regarding process-related issues and product requirements to ensure customer specifications for reliability and performance are metReviews and analyzes backend magnetic performance data and creates reports regarding performance/correlation and provides feedback to design and manufacturing teamsConducts complex failure analysis testing to isolate detractors to yield and performance; may recommend corrective actionReviews the changes related to wafer processes and the integration scheme including process characterizationAdheres to all safety policies and procedures as requiredPerforms other duties of a similar nature or level*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics, and/or equivalent relevant experienceSix years of experience working in the magnetic recording head or semiconductor industry, including quality assurance and controlProficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications, including JMP or similar data analysis toolRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of semiconductor industry principles, practices, and techniquesKnowledge of failure analysis and quality assurance methodologies and ability to perform root causeKnowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, Word documents, and presentationsKnowledge of magneto-resistance technology will be desirableAble to analyze data, create various reports, and recommend corrective actionAble to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of contractors, consultants, employees, and managementAble to work productively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and managementAble to comply with all safety policies and proceduresAble to conduct root cause analysis and drive results to successful conclusionDemonstrated analytical and critical thinking skillsDemonstrated organizational and time management skillsDemonstrated problem-solving and trouble shooting skillsDemonstrated ability to use SPC and JMP to monitor and analyze dataFlexible and able to prioritizeThe annual rate for this full-time position is between $120,000.00-$160,000.00 + bonus target + benefits. Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The annual pay range shown is subject to change and may be modified periodically.WORKING CONDITIONS:The Sr. QA Engineer works primarily in an office environment from Monday thru Friday. The schedule may be altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs, including working in the fab, mainly to audit, or traveling from building-to-building as needed. Spends a majority of time in a seated position but occasionally stands and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment.
