The Role Join AMD’s CFO organization as a Lead Snowflake Data Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Finance data and analytics. This is a highly visible position responsible for leading the design and evolution of Finance’s data ecosystem in Snowflake. In the role, you will partner closely with Finance and IT teams to build scalable, high-quality data products that power financial reporting, forecasting, and decision-making. You will act as the bridge between business and technology, ensuring Finance’s data needs are translated into robust, enterprise-grade solutions. Beyond hands‑on engineering and modelling, you will help mature our data product portfolio, establish best practices, and foster a culture of data ownership and self‑service. You’ll mentor and enable a growing community of Citizen Data Engineers, empowering Finance professionals to leverage data more effectively. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, drive innovation, and build lasting impact across AMD’s Finance organization. The Person A successful candidate is an experienced and motivated data engineer with strong fundamentals in data architecture, modeling, and modern cloud data platforms. You bring deep expertise in the Snowflake ecosystem, including Snowflake Intelligence & Cortex, combined with a solid understanding of Finance data and processes. You are equally comfortable designing scalable data and AI solutions and engaging with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable data products. You have strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to work effectively across Finance and IT while influencing without authority. You thrive in environments where you can mentor others, build communities, and elevate data maturity. You are passionate about enabling self‑service analytics and helping non‑technical users become confident, data‑driven decision‑makers. Additionally, you bring experience navigating and integrating across enterprise data environments, including SAP S4 / HANA and Microsoft SQL Server, and understand how to connect legacy and modern platforms into a cohesive data ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Serve as the Snowflake technical lead for Finance, defining architecture, standards, and best practices for data engineering and data products. Design, build, and optimize scalable data models within Snowflake that serve as a foundation for AI wrappers. Partner with IT and data platform teams to align Finance data solutions with enterprise architecture and capabilities. Collaborate with Finance stakeholders (FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, etc.) to translate business requirements into high‑quality data products. Drive the maturity of Finance’s data product portfolio, including data quality, documentation, lineage, testing, and SLAs. Establish and grow a Finance data community of practice, mentoring and training Citizen Data Engineers. Enable and promote self‑service analytics, reducing reliance on manual processes and adhoc Excel‑based workflows. Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment across stakeholders. Success Milestones First 3 months: Build relationships across Finance and IT, assess current data landscape, identify quick wins and improvement opportunities. 6 months: Deliver initial enhancements in Snowflake, establish standards and best practices, begin enabling citizen engineers. 12 months: Mature Finance data products, scale self‑service capabilities, and establish a sustainable data community and governance model. Preferred Experience Strong hands‑on experience with Snowflake (data modeling, performance optimization, security, data sharing, Snowflake Intelligence / Cortex). Deep expertise in SQL and database design principles. Proven experience working with Finance data domains (GL, FP&A, financial reporting, planning). Experience integrating and working with SAP S4 / HANA and Microsoft SQL Server environments. Familiarity with BI and analytics tools such as Power BI. Experience enabling self‑service analytics and mentoring business users or citizen developers. Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data product lifecycle management. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills. Academic Credentials Preference for Bachelor’s Degree in Computer or Information Sciences, Statistics, Data Management or related disciplines. Relevant experience will also be considered.
