Sr Software Engineer, AWS Applied AI Solution – Core Services Job ID: 10454884 | Services LLC Role Overview Lead AWS’s pioneering AI initiatives by designing foundational AI agent building blocks that power next‑generation business applications across sectors such as contact center, supply chain, healthcare and life sciences. Own a critical AI capability area and chart the roadmap for enterprise‑scale AI solutions. Key Responsibilities Own technical architecture and strategy for a critical AI agent capability area. Lead cross‑functional projects and manage multiple engineers while balancing business goals with technical excellence. Research, evaluate, and integrate state‑of‑the‑art AI technologies, deciding when to build or leverage existing solutions. Design and implement reusable AI components that meet enterprise‑grade quality standards. Drive consensus across teams with different priorities to create unified AI building blocks. Champion engineering best practices and foster a culture of high‑quality software development. Mentor and coach engineers, enabling technical growth. Communicate complex technical designs to diverse audiences, from engineers to senior leadership. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience. 5+ years of programming in at least one software programming language. 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems. Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team. Full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Experience designing and implementing AI/ML systems, including working with LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), fine‑tuning, or AI agent development. Track record building distributed systems with well‑designed APIs that operate reliably at enterprise scale. Ability to create reusable software components with clean interfaces leveraged by multiple teams. Strong knowledge of AWS AI/ML services such as Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker. History of cross‑organizational collaboration driving technical convergence. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of full software development life cycle experience. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. Experience designing evaluation systems that measure AI system performance, including metrics and testing methodologies. Experience building hierarchical memory/storage systems for AI products. Experience developing tools and frameworks that manage prompts. Benefits Competitive base salary range: 168,100 – 227,400 USD annually. Additional compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
