The Thermoforming Manager is a high level position within the organization that focuses on driving and supporting programs that deliver solutions customers value and drive profitable growth. Responsibilities may include research, product development, material improvement, process optimization, and cost-saving initiatives.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled and can manage a range of responsibilities, working across current and emerging technologies. They should be the go-to person for solving complex problems and helping influence decisions, even beyond their primary area of focus. The role involves providing technical support across multiple products and processes, often for key customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement products/processes that meet customer needs using data and targets specified by the client.
- Lead technical discussions with customers on new product developments.
- Stay informed on technological trends that could impact productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Ensure quality specifications are met.
- Apply problem-solving techniques and teach others, using tools like research, technical libraries, and networking.
- Lead projects through different stages, supporting launches and start-ups.
- Plan and analyze production trials using techniques like Design of Experiment and Lean principles.
- Document work properly and contribute to the company's knowledge base.
- Safeguard companies intellectual property while sharing necessary information with stakeholders.
- Develop and train teams on standard operating procedures.
- Use knowledge of material properties and equipment to meet customer needs.
- Collaborate across teams (e.g., Engineering, Operations) to solve technical problems and support ongoing solutions.
- Contribute new ideas for product development and project proposals.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree (preferably in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science) is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in technical roles, especially involving manufacturing, R&D, project management, or process management.
- Familiarity with packaging development, thermoforming processing, and material knowledge is a big plus.
- Strong track record in product and process development, with demonstrated business impact.
- Proficient in project management tools, Lean principles, and statistical analysis.
- Ability to lead specialized projects and manage customer relationships, particularly with national accounts.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving ability, even in ambiguous situations.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse teams.
