East Coast time zone preferred.

BASIC PURPOSE

The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for all aspects of administration, enhancement and problem resolution for the Enterprise's VMware and Data Protection environments.

The Systems Engineer will focus on maintaining a highly available and secure environment through best practices, documentation, process improvement and continuous learning.

Other responsibilities include identifying problems and errors, incident management, reporting and dashboarding, and project based work.

The successful candidate must be able to work in unsupervised situations, provide excellent customer service, be extremely detailed and highly motivated while working in a team-based environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configuration, maintenance and administration of a secure VMware environment.
  • Configuration, maintenance and administration of a secure data protection environment using various backup technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of issues in the environment
  • Provide guidance on performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning for servers and applications.
  • Provide comprehensive monitoring and alerting configurations with ability to view environment state via operational dashboards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collaborate with application owners on application deployment and configuration
    • Participate in on-call rotation for off-hours incidents
    • Understanding of security and compliance controls
    • Analyze and identify trends in reported issues and devise preventative solutions
    • Participate in Continuous Process Improvement on team processes.
    • Participate in cross team projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred
    • Proven ability to automate with Powershell/PowerCLI
    • Experience with VMware 7.0 or higher to include vCenter, vSphere and the vRealize Suite
    • Experience with backup and storage technologies, especially Rubrik, CommVault, NetBackup, Veeam
    • Experience with disaster recovery tools such as SRM and Zerto
    • Experience with AWS
    • Familiar with SOX and SOC controls
    • The candidate must demonstrate strong infrastructure technical qualities. Preferably in a global environment, ideally within the Finance or other regulated industry
    • Good Interpersonal Skills; Communication, flexibility, self-driven, team player
    • Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to interact with global teams and customers
