Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant supports the Accounting & Finance Department by performing essential accounting, clerical, and administrative functions. This role assists with day-to-day financial operations, maintains accurate records, supports budgeting and reporting processes, and helps ensure compliance with hotel policies and accounting standards. Such a position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional seeking hands‑on experience in hospitality finance.
This role is eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) candidates

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Enter and maintain accurate financial data in the hotel's accounting system (M3), including invoices, vendor payments, receipts, and journal entries
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing as assigned
Verify accuracy of financial documents prior to entry and flag discrepancies for review
Assist in preparing and inputting budget data, including departmental expense forecasts and revenue projections, under supervision
Support ongoing budget tracking by updating spreadsheets and system reports
Maintain well‑organized digital and physical financial records to ensure easy retrieval during audits, internal reviews, or management requests
File, scan, and archive accounting documents in accordance with hotel retention policies
Assist in preparing routine financial reports such as daily revenue summaries, expense logs, and basic variance reports
Compile supporting documentation for month‑end and year‑end close processes
Work closely with the accounting team to ensure compliance with hotel policies, internal controls, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Support audit requests by gathering required documentation and schedules
Handle clerical and administrative tasks related to the finance department, including correspondence, scheduling, and document organization
Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Prior accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred; hospitality or hotel accounting experience is a plus
Required Skills/Abilities
Familiarity with accounting software; experience with M3 is highly desirable
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Strong knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel formulas and related skillsets
Ability to learn hotel systems such as PMS and POS interfaces
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organizational and time‑management skills
Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Schedule
The work schedule is based on the demands of the business you must be available days, nights, weekends, and/or holiday availability are required.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
