Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and supporting various accounting functions across corporate and non-profit sectors. Your expertise will help ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), regulatory standards, and internal controls, contributing to the organization’s financial health and transparency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting skills in a fast-paced environment while mentoring junior team members and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Perform account reconciliations such as bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis to maintain data integrity. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft. Conduct detailed journal entries, accruals, and double-entry bookkeeping to record financial transactions accurately. Support regulatory reporting requirements by preparing schedules related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other governmental filings. Assist with internal audits and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data. Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with team members on technical accounting issues such as securities law compliance, nonprofit accounting practices, or private equity transactions. Mentor junior staff or interns by sharing best practices in accounting processes and software utilization. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP. Hands‑on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms. Knowledge of SOX compliance procedures and LIHTC regulations is highly desirable. Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and nonprofit accounting practices is a plus. Strong technical skills including journal entries, account reconciliation, financial report writing and interpretation. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform cash flow analysis and financial statement interpretation confidently. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling, data analysis, and report generation. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment; mentoring skills are advantageous. Additional Information Physical Demand: Sedentary office work; prolonged computer use; occasional lifting up to 15 lbs. Working Conditions: Office setting. Training/Certifications: CPA Preferred, not required. Shift Time/Overtime: Monday-Friday Travel: N/A Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
