Position Overview Reporting to the Controller, the role of Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Company’s financial operations including accounts payable, payroll processing, account reconciliation and assisting with month end and year end closures. Working closely with the Accounting team and operational locations, the role of Staff Accountant assists the Controller in monitoring and enforcing policies, procedures and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an Accounting role, preferably in a construction or manufacturing environment, strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail. This position will be based at our Billerica, MA or Brockton MA office, with a normal working schedule of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, depending on business needs. Position Responsibilities Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for 3 separate organizations; Complete accounts payable process through weekly check processing; Process weekly payrolls and all associated reports, filings and documents; Maintain various payroll-related reports including Paid Time Off tracking, tax funding, 401(k) funding, Certified Payroll reporting, audits and other reports as required; Verify monthly sales commissions; Post and reconcile bank deposits, ACH and credit card payments; Record financial transactions via journal entries and assist in the management of the month-end close process; Assist in completion of special projects; Multi-State Sales and Use tax return preparations; Perform other duties as required. Position Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related studies, preferred or equivalent related experience; 3-5 years' experience in an accounting/finance function, preferably in construction or manufacturing; Extensive knowledge of payroll and accounts payable functions including balancing of accounts, internal controls. Experience with prevailing wage payroll strongly preferred; Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information; Proven track record of proficiency with Microsoft Excel; Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects; Team player with strong interpersonal skills; Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Working Conditions Office environment with typical office machines and exposure to noise and temperature. Extensive sitting, standing, bending, standing, walking are all expected activities.
