About The Role This position serves as a core pillar within the corporate finance department, playing a key role in general ledger maintenance and assisting with the monthly closing cycle. As a Staff Accountant, you will handle a broad range of accounting operations, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis. It is an exceptional fit for a grounded, detailed professional who carries themselves with a steady energy and wants to deepen their corporate accounting experience within a highly collaborative team environment. Location: Portland, OR Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 Key Responsibilities General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare, review, and post routine and specialized journal entries to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately. Month-End Close: Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes by meeting strict deadlines and ensuring ledger completeness. Account Reconciliations: Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, prepaid expenses, accruals, and intercompany transactions. Balance Sheet Oversight: Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Financial Analysis: Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and budget-to-actual variance reports. Audit Readiness: Compile documentation, prepare schedules, and provide support for internal and external audit requests. Process Improvement: Collaborate with the finance team to review internal controls, streamline accounting workflows, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs). Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and operational departments to ensure accurate cost coding and financial reporting compliance. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field. 1+ years of accounting experience; corporate accounting or public audit experience preferred. Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables. Experience utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems or robust accounting software preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight closing deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
