Staff Accountant – Woodstock, GA
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Position Overview
Earth Retention is a leader in engineered earth retention solutions, with divisions spanning engineering design, product supply, and proprietary software. As our company scales, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Woodstock, Georgia. This is a full-time, in-person position ideal for a motivated accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and has strong technical skills in QuickBooks platforms.
This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and collaborates closely with leaders across Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Product divisions to ensure timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting and performance tracking.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting Operations
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records in accordance with GAAP
- Process accounts payable and receivable transaction
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and record journal entries with appropriate documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Maintain organized documentation for all accounting transactions
- Monitor job cost accounting and track margin by project, product line, and business unit
Systems & Technology
- Utilize QuickBooks Online and Desktop for day-to-day accounting functions
- Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure proper transaction coding
- Set up and manage project-based billing structures and tracking mechanisms
- Generate and customize financial reports for internal stakeholders
- Support integration of accounting systems with platforms such as Zoho (CRM, invoicing)
- Perform data entry and ongoing system reconciliation to ensure accuracyFinancial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Track project profitability and generate project-level reporting
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Provide internal reports for strategic planning and executive team reviews
- Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors
Strategic & Administrative Support
- Assist with payroll processing and related reporting
- Handle state and federal tax compliance and filing requirements
- Manage intercompany billing and reconciliations
- Support special projects and ad hoc financial requests
- Help implement and monitor internal controls and accounting process improvements
- Maintain organized financial file systems (digital and physical)
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a dynamic or multi-entity environment
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop is required
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
- Experience preparing financial statements and reports
- Familiarity with project-based billing, job costing, and revenue recognition
- Understanding of accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliation processes

- Familiarity with Zoho tools and cloud-based financial integrations

Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-person position based in our Woodstock, GA office. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Regular office presence is required for cross-functional collaboration.
