Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager III (Branch Chief), the Staff Services Manager II (Supervisory)(SSMII) is responsible for planning, directing, and organizing the work within the programs of the Certification, Assistance, and Review Section (CARS). The SSMII acts as the CARS Chief and is responsible for supervising a large number of technical staff and spends the majority of time on supervisory activities.

The SSMII will also function as a nonsupervisory program expert of policies and programs related to CalRecycle's beverage container recycling precertification training and examination programs; certification and registration of beverage container program participants; recycling center handling fee process; and monitoring convenience zones to provide convenient recycling opportunities for Californians.

Travel involving extended overnight stays is anticipated for this position, but should not exceed a maximum of 10 percent per year.

This position requires that you possess and maintain a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your applications. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions. Failing to maintain a valid CDL will result in a failure to meet job requirements.
