Job Description and Duties

STATE PARK INTERPRETER I - PUBLIC PROGRAMS – SAN DIEGO COAST DISTRICT/HISTORIC SECTOR/OLD TOWN SAN DIEGO STATE HISTORIC PARK

The reporting location for this position is Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
This position will work under the general supervision of State Park Interpreter III.
This position's reporting hours are 9 a.
m.
to 5:30 p.
m.
Tuesday - Saturday.

Under the direction of the Historic Interpreter II, the State Park Interpreter I works closely with the district leadership team, permanent and seasonal interpretive staff, curatorial staff, volunteers, and other park disciplines to help implement the interpretive activities of the Historic Sector, which includes Old Town San Diego State Historic Park and San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park.
The State Park Interpreter I is responsible for assisting with the efficient operation of public programs in the Historic Sector.
The reporting location for this position is the Robinson Rose Visitor Center in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
The State Park Interpreter I helps plan, research, and develop the Department’s interpretive projects and will train others to do interpretive work.
This includes but is not limited to staffing the Visitor Centers/Museums as needed, interpreting outdoor exhibit areas, leading tours, and generally supporting the educational, interpretive, and volunteer management programs.


This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license.
