Shift: Evening Shift (Generally 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM; hours may vary based on department needs)


Compensation & Incentives
  • Salary Range: $52,000 – $90,000 annually (based on experience)

  • Sign-On Bonus: Available on a case-by-case basis


Facility Overview

A large, tertiary and quaternary care hospital in Western North Carolina is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Manager. The facility is a regional leader in advanced surgical services and is recognized nationally for clinical quality, patient safety, and nursing excellence. It serves as the region’s only Level II Trauma Center and includes a dedicated children’s hospital, supporting a high-volume and complex surgical environment.


Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Sterile Processing, the Sterile Processing Manager assists in overseeing daily departmental operations while supporting organizational goals, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. This role provides leadership, operational coordination, and staff development within a fast-paced sterile processing environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily department operations and workflow coordination

  • Provide leadership and supervision to approximately 80 FTEs and 7 Team Leads

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, recruitment support, and staff competency validation

  • Support quality assurance initiatives and continuous performance improvement

  • Maintain compliance with infection control, aseptic technique, and regulatory standards

  • Assist with staff orientation, training, and ongoing education

  • Recommend departmental resources, process improvements, and operational enhancements

  • Collaborate with perioperative and clinical departments to ensure efficiency and coordination

  • Support hospital and community engagement initiatives


Department Scope & Supported Service Lines

The department supports multiple high-volume service lines, including:

  • Endoscopy

  • Operating Room (OR)

  • Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

  • Labor & Delivery (L&D)

  • Inpatient and Outpatient Ambulatory Clinics

Experience with surgery center leadership is a plus.


QualificationsEducation

Required:

  • Two-year Surgical Technology program OR

  • CRCST (IAHCSMM/HSPA) or CSPDT certification

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree


Certification

Required:

  • CSPDT or IAHCSMM (HSPA) certification


Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience

  • Strong supervisory, communication, and technical skills

  • In-depth knowledge of operating room instrumentation and equipment

  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique and infection control standards

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Proficiency with computers and department workflow systems
