NorthPoint Health& Wellness Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join its fast-paced sterile processing department. This detail-oriented position offers the chance to work in a culturally diverse clinic where we provide care to underserved patients and clients. Location and hours:
This position is located at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Work hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday shifts will be required once every other month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on a rotating basis.

This position is internally classified as a Sterile Processing Technician.

In this position, you will:

  • Perform dental/medical sterilization, packing, and storage procedures according to safety standards for a clinical setting.
  • Monitor and maintain dental/medical clinic instruments, inventory, and equipment.
  • Adhere to dental/medical clinic policies, procedures, and protocols, including quality and infection control, health and safety, and environmental safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain dental/medical instrument sterilization records, according to regulating authority standards.
  • Manage large clinic quality assurance and inventory.

Need to have:
  • One year or more of full-time equivalent experience as a hospital lab technician, sterilization lab technician, dental/medical assistant, infection control specialist, or work in a related field.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice to have:
  • Six months or more of full-time equivalent experience performing sterile processing, packaging, and storing of dental/medical instruments and supplies.
  • Certified Registered Central Processing Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) certification.
  • Completion of in-service training in sterile processing or a related area.
  • Experience:
    • Navigating a variety of computer information systems including six months or more of experience at an intermediate level with Microsoft Office suite.
    • Monitoring for quality assurance and tracking inventory.
    • Providing customer service and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with dental/medical/eye terminology.
