Strategic Account Manager - Western U.S. Regional Territory

Must live in the Western U.S. Regional Territory (near a major airport)

Job is seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to join our client’s team. This position will be based in the Western U.S. regional territory, ideally near a major airport for ease of travel. The Strategic Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, coordinating technical support from engineering, commercial support from customer service, and additional local territory coverage from sales channels. The role includes territory coverage, distribution management, customer relationship building, opportunity management, pricing strategy creation, negotiation, and order capture to drive sales and profitability.

Essential Functions:
• Customer and Territory Development:
o Build strong customer relationships and promote company capabilities to prospects and customers.
o Develop a regional sales plan to support the overall marketing and sales strategy.
o Deliver presentations demonstrating company products/services and their value to customers.
o Visit OEMs, spec developers, government agencies, end users, and attend tradeshows and conferences to gather customer-specific information.
o Execute commercial and sales budget objectives to maximize customer value.
o Identify, evaluate, and recommend representatives as needed.
o Participate in tradeshows to build customer relationships.
o Foster customer loyalty through excellent service, technical support, and order performance.
o Drive pricing strategies, order quantities, and reduce unprofitable products to enhance margins and profitability.
• Quote Pipeline Execution:
o Qualify and accelerate leads into opportunities.
o Ensure customer expectations are clearly defined regarding performance, deliverables, terms, and payment schedules.
o Negotiate to capture opportunities and progress them from sample stages to production runs.
o Develop and manage growth plans for high-potential customers.
o Maintain client contact data using CRM and detailed trip reports.
• Order Entry and Contract Management Support:
o Support reconciliation of customer POs, coordinate electronic drawing transfers, provide accurate order forecasting, and assist in delivery, RMA, and collections resolution.
o Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
• 7 years of experience in technical ceramic sales with a manufacturing company.
• Proven success in developing territories and representatives to drive profitable growth.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
• Ability to work independently as a remote employee.
• Exceptional interpersonal, project management, and time management skills.
• Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with customers, employees, and management.
• Strong business acumen, management reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and a motivated leader with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet.
• Proficiency in CRM systems such as Salesforce (SDFC), Microsoft Dynamics, etc.
• Expected travel is 25-50% monthly (5-15 days per month).

Working Conditions:
• Work is performed at your home office, on airplanes, in hotels, and at customer offices.
• Office work is typically conducted in a climate-controlled environment, with occasional time required on shop floors, which can be noisy, dusty, and hot.
Physical Demands:
• Office work involves brief periods of standing and walking, with most tasks performed from a seated position.
• Travel involves driving, flying, and walking with luggage.
• Potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screens.
• Deadlines, peak period workloads, travel, and changing priorities may increase stress levels.

Compensation:
Salary will be based on experience, $140,000 is the minimum starting yearly salary.
