This role will lead the purchasing team who serve as the face of MVP to the suppliers, crafting a dynamic of collaboration and trust through every business interaction. In full partnership with operations, the vision for the strategic sourcing manager is to constantly reassess the role(s) of the supply base and help shape our supply chain to generate sustainable competitive advantage. This role will require an energetic, adaptable, holistic thinker who can drive excellence in execution and help set a leadership tone that supports our culture and core values of Family, Friendly, Forward.Work Description:Strategic SourcingLeads the strategic sourcing process (category/ subcommodity approach), focusing on cost reduction, capacity management, risk mitigation, and proactive supplier leadershipVets key purchasing decisions (e.g. awarding new volume, make vs. buy, etc.)Garners key supplier intel (e.g. manufacturing methodologies, 2nd tier suppliers, planning and inventory cycles, overall attractiveness of MVP's account, etc.)Analyzes and right-sizes the supply base, consolidating spend when appropriatePartners with engineering and product management to identify supplier integration / ESI opportunities and maximize product marginsCost ManagementDrives priority cost reduction initiativesOwns total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling and implements cost justification requirementsLeads all PPV and purchased cost tracking activitiesBuilds should-cost model tools for priority spend categories / itemsMonitors raw material indices and proactively communicates risk / opportunityPartners with Finance team to establish critical purchasing team cost metricsCollaborates with suppliers to generate ongoing cost reduction suggestionsSupplier DevelopmentLaunches supplier scorecards and metrics and drives supplier improvement prioritiesUses data to influence suppliers to increase performanceHelps suppliers achieve "fit" with the right portfolio and MVP supportTeam Leadership and Organizational InfluenceServes as subject matter expert and primary point of contact for supply base opportunitiesCollaborates with operations, planning, and other departments and builds excellent cross-functional relationshipsLeads and teaches root cause analysis / corrective action when supplier issues arise and implements action plans to remediateCoaches the purchasing and procurement team across technical purchasing and leadership dimensionsMinimum Qualifications:7+ years of supply chain management experience, including purchasing, procurement, materials and operations management, in an industrial manufacturing environmentSignificant experience leading and developing direct reportsBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or similar field.
