FSU Libraries - Access Services & Delivery (ASD)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining staffing levels for Stroziers main Scholar Support Desk, which includes, but is not limited to: interviewing and hiring part-time staff; creating, updating, and disseminating the weekly Scholar Support Desk schedule and updates through the weekly newsletter; and training, scheduling, approving time sheets and supervising part-time staff.
  • Maintains and leverages expert knowledge of all HR policies, procedures, and workflows for hiring and onboarding OPS and Federal Work Study staff for FSU Libraries.
  • Assists the Strozier Course Reserves Supervisor with processing of Course Reserves Requests; communicating order status with faculty, subject librarians, and staff; preparing stat reports for ASD & FSU Libraries leadership; working with outreach; and assisting with policies and procedures for Course Reserves.
  • Processes ASDs suite of library materials services including, but not limited to: Library Material Requests, Library Express Delivery, Curbside Pick Up, and Course Reserves.
  • Assists the Access Services & Reserves Collections Manager in creating policies and procedures for circulating materials and improving scholar experience at the Scholar Support Desk.
  • Troubleshoots basic circulation issues including locating materials and providing general information about library services to patrons.
  • Participates in other Research & Learning Services and/or FSU Libraries promotional activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with maintaining the training materials and handbooks for their area: Scholar Support Desk handbook, Supervisors Handbook, Course Reserve Manual, etc.

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree and one year of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to five years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working or conducting research in a library setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and retrieve files from active or archive sources. Basic filing practices to include numeric and alphabetic systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and etiquette.
  • Experience supervising and training employees.
