Job Description:
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Experience should include compiling construction documents, site investigations, field measurements, analysis and design of building structures. Design experience should include design of aluminum, light gauge metal framing, reinforced concrete and masonry, structural steel and wood.
- Must have experience utilizing building codes and standard reference materials for commercial and residential structures.
- Candidates should have experience in preparing professional reports, construction documents and letters.
- Candidates must have the ability to work independently and work with others.
- Candidates must know how to meet deadlines and have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Production of sections, details and specifications; using the software of Revit.
- Production of official and unofficial sketches that are issued to the client in order to modify portions of the structure after submitting the structural package.
- Estimate various schematic designs of the structures like columns, footings, and shear wall placing.
- Review of construction documents, such as columns reinforcement, shear walls reinforcement, slab reinforcement, foundation reinforcement, elevator system and concrete mix designs shop drawings.
- Assisting site inspections such as concrete pours, formwork placement, foundation layout, slab and column reinforcement placement.
- Attend coordination meetings weekly with the projects team (owner, developer, architect, electrical engineer, and mechanical engineer).
- Manage and modify submissions of projects such as Foundations, Bulletins, and Issue for Construction.
- Performs structural design of buildings and prepares related engineering calculations and structural modeling. Building types may include but are not limited to commercial buildings, residential buildings, and government buildings.
- Provides technical or operational guidance to graduate and junior engineers.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Prepares technical specification sections.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Coordinates with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
- Travel to project sites and meetings as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Must have at least 3 years of experience
- Professional licensure is desired but not required.
- Must have experience using AutoCad & Revit software.
- Analysis software experience with Tekla, Tedds, RAM, and RISA 3D is a plus.
- Knowledge and application of ACI, AISC, ASCE 7 and other industry relevant design code and standards.
- Knowledge and application of Building Code.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite software.
