Overview Our On-Site Project Manager manages the structural aspects of construction projects directly at the job site. They will ensure that all structural components are built according to design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves close collaboration with architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure structural integrity and timely project delivery. Beyond design work, you will have the chance to enhance your skills in collaboration, project management, leadership, and client engagement. This role involves working on multi-disciplinary projects, mentoring junior engineers, and participating in marketing and business development efforts by building client relationships and preparing proposals. Typical advancement is based on the quality performance of essential duties and responsibilities. Discretionary advancement is based on the employee’s actions and accomplishments. The role indirectly supervises employees as it relates to the applicable and specific project tasks. Essential Duties May serve as Senior Structural Engineer, prepare & implement design calculations and analysis on all assigned projects & structures. Supervise and inspect on-site structural work to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications. Monitory construction progress and methods to help coordinate with design engineers, architects and construction teams to resolve technical and design issues as needed. Ensure adherence to local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Review client requested proposals or plans to determine procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources for all phases of each project (estimating, scheduling, design, permitting, construction support and close-out) Supports and develops project proposals through establishing, delegating, and performing the outlined work plan, assignments and staffing for each phase of assigned project(s), including, but not limited to durations, hourly rates, budget, and schedule. Serve as primary contact for exchange of project information and communication between the firm and the client, with the support of senior staff. Complete and review status reports and support intermediate and internal design reviews, such that documents adhere to the firm’s standards for completeness, quality, and accuracy Ensure compliance with the client’s standards Prepare project reports and schedules for management and client requests Ensure that all forms and scoping documents are complete and available for project team consumption Direct and review approach used by project staff in completing assignments Write technical reports, memos, or other correspondence that conform to the prescribed style and format of the client and the firm. This may include final exhibit reviews and legal descriptions based on division and state requirements. Support marketing efforts through technical writing in response to RFQs and RFPs Provide mentorship and direction to other project managers and senior project staff to ascertain coordination, completeness, and accuracy of critical technical and non-technical requirements Provide QA/QC support for Project Team as it relates to the project design requirements and integration of those standards with client specific requirements May sign/seal drawings or other required documentation based on division and firm policies Monitors new technology, evaluates, and recommends purchase of new equipment, software, and supplies. Follow and abide by the DMA employee and safety manuals Other duties as assigned General Requirements Be detail oriented, versatile, and enthusiastic Exhibit flexibility to work on multiple projects and react to changing client and company expectations Ability to take direction and function independently with limited supervision Possess strong organizational and time management skills Capable of multi-tasking on a wide range of projects of varying size and complexity Participate and become an active part of the project and division team through active listening & open communication Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues. Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, etc.) and Document Control Management Software Maintains time sheet, tracks mileage, and reimbursement documents in compliance with company policies Required Skills Thorough understanding of discipline-specific principles, practices, and tools Proficient in AutoCAD/Revit and other design, data recording, and analyzation software. Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects Experience working on various project types and scales Experience on-site as an Engineer and/or Project Manager Ability to perform basic design calculations, figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Must be willing to learn and use various fully integrated and transparent cloud-based products Ability to effectively present information to the DMA team, clients, potential clients, and multi-disciplined design teams through verbal communication, technical reports, memos, or other project correspondence Education & Experience An Industry relevant Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent education from a four-year college or university is preferred Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in development, management, or construction of structural engineering projects Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Professional Engineer (PE) License is required for Senior Project Manager roles Able to be licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the primary jurisdiction of the office within 6-months required for all engineering-based roles Physical Demands & Work Environment Able to be seated at a standard workstation for 50% or more of workday Able to use desktop, laptop and/or tablet computer and smart phone for 75% or more of workday Work performed will typically be completed on the construction site. Work may be performed remotely based on the company & Division’s in-office attendance policy Occasional travel to other offices or vendor/company partner/job site locations may be required. Some on-site locations may require employees to sit, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, reach, etc. The Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; slippery when wet paved embankments; potholes, usually hidden by underbrush; railroad tracks with loose rock ballast slopes; vertical walls such as storm channels; large sewer tunnels with uneven or curved slippery floors; or gravel/loose stone creek bottoms.
