Job Description

The Student Intern will provide administrative and operational support to various departments within the Homeowners Association (HOA). This role assists in the execution of community/event programs, compliance functions, resident communications, and general office support. The position offers exposure to community operations, governance, and customer service in a residential environment.

We have a very robust Lifestyle program, hosting numerous lifestyle events annually.

This will be a part-time, limited term assignment. We will partner with the student and college to review hours/schedule expectations

RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on the specific assignment, duties may include the following:

  • Assist with daily operational activities within HOA management
  • Support planning, coordination and execution of community events and meetings
  • Prepare and distribute communication materials, including newsletters, notices, and digital content
  • Assist with compliance monitoring and documentation of community standards
  • Perform administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and recordkeeping
  • Shadow staff in vendor coordination, budgeting processes, and resident relations
  • Provide general support to assigned functional areas as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current enrollment in a college or university program
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Interest in community operations, public service, or related administrative focus

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Familiarity with HOA operations, systems, and governance processes
  • Experience supporting community engagement initiatives and events
  • Development of professional communication and organizational skills
  • Understanding of compliance procedures and community standards
  • Exposure to administrative workflows, resident services practices, and operational planning
  • Potential academic credit (subject to school approval)
  • Flexible scheduling available to accommodate class commitments
  • Consideration for extended internship or future employment based on performance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:

  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods during site visits, meetings, or office tasks
  • Capability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g., event supplies, signage, small equipment)
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to climb stairs and navigate multi-level properties or facilities
  • Manual dexterity to operate computers, phones, and office equipment
  • Visual and auditory acuity to observe property conditions, read documents, and communicate effectively
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license when travel is necessary. (Please note: If driving is part of your job, we will request and review an MVR at the time of hire and on a periodic basis thereafter to ensure that employees maintain a satisfactory driving status.)
