Student Assistant Employee Job Description Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness, the Student Operations Assistant - Fitness is responsible for assisting with general administrative duties and day-to-day operations such as inventory control, purchasing, and contracts for the Fitness Department and its personnel. Job Duties: Interprets and implements University Student Union (USU) and Student Recreation Center (SRC) policies and procedures Develops and/or supports partnerships and professional working relationships with USU staff, student volunteers, university departments, faculty and clubs and organizations Performs a variety of general office tasks including typing, filing, answering phones, photocopying, faxing, etc. Assists with execution of annual department events, trainings, meetings as needed Updates and maintains the department's Intranet page Creates, maintains and archives office files and other documents Updates staff training manuals and resources Purchases supplies and equipment as needed Maintains inventory of fitness equipment, uniforms, and incentive items and respective reports Assists in preparing annual budget proposal documents and other support materials Monitors and updates sales and participation statistics Sending and receiving internal/external mail Must attend required SRC and USU employee orientation and trainings as well as department specific trainings and meetings Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications: Education: Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student Experience and Certifications: Previous related experience and/or specialized education required American Red Cross or department approved First Aid, CPR, and AED certification shall be obtained within 30 days. Training is periodically offered free of charge by the USU. Applicants unable to attend USU-sponsored training are required to obtain certification at their own expense Valid California Driver's License and automobile insurance is preferred Other Requirements: This position is a sensitive position as designated by the CSU. Supervision is provided by the Acting Assistant Director, Fitness Typical Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Work is occasionally performed outdoors, in different climactic conditions. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule, must possess an ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, holidays, finals weeks, and during academic interim and break periods; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
