Job Description:
This full-time contract position will play a critical role in supporting prospective students, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to major admissions events.
Core Duties:
Admissions & Applicant Support
- Serve as a subject-matter resource for prospective applicants regarding admissions and financial aid procedures.
- Provide accurate and timely information about SLS programs to prospective students and external stakeholders.
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person drop-ins while delivering excellent customer service.
- Research and resolve routine admissions issues, referring complex matters to senior staff.
Application Processing & Data Management
- Process a high volume of admissions applications and highly confidential documents.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and sensitive materials.
- Input and update applicant data, ensuring accuracy in electronic databases.
- Maintain the integrity of admissions data and organize paper and digital files.
- Review documents and forms for completeness, track pending files, and distribute materials for committee review.
- Collect, gather, validate, and prepare data for reporting or analysis.
Event & Program Support
- Assist with planning and execution of major recruitment events, including Admitted Students Weekend and other outreach activities.
- Support general office operations and contribute to process improvements and workflow optimization.
General Administrative Support
- Support financial and administrative tasks, including reimbursements, data entry, and document review.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid or the Associate Director.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred and one year of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; strong word processing and data entry accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer service experience and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
- Willingness to take on a heavy workload during peak admission cycles (November May).
- Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities.
- Ability to learn and follow legal, financial, and university policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PeopleSoft and Oracle Financials.
- Prior experience within higher education, admissions, or student services.
