Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team in Glen Burnie. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals battling addiction. You will conduct individual and group therapy sessions, offering clinical counseling and mental health support to clients. Utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), you will address addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for clients struggling with addiction.
  • Provide clinical counseling and mental health support, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Develop treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as needed.
  • Educate clients and families on addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive change and healthy coping skills.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in addiction counseling or related field.
  • Proficiency in conducting group therapy sessions and facilitating therapeutic discussions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to addiction and behavioral health.
  • Familiarity with crisis management techniques and ability to provide support during emergencies.
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders, such as PTSD or other trauma-related conditions.
