Job Description

Western Digital is on the lookout for an exceptionally talented Engineering Intern to join our Tape Head Development team. This is not your average internship; its a gateway into the thrilling world of engineering, design, development, and manufacturing. Open to all engineering majors, as well as chemistry and physics enthusiasts, we offer a unique opportunity to get your hands on real-world projects and make a tangible impact.

Your Role And Responsibilities

  • Dive into building and documenting cutting-edge Tapehead models. Unleash your creativity and technical skills on new designs.
  • Collaborate with our top-notch engineering team for Failure Analysis (FA) on defects - be part of solving complex puzzles!
  • Develop and manage a sophisticated database for collecting and communicating FA data your work will be crucial for our decision-making process.
  • Become an integral part of a team that values communication, innovation, and teamwork.
  • Engage in a learning experience that spans various facets of engineering, chemistry, and physics in the context of data storage technology.

Where are these roles located?

Youll have the opportunity to work with teams in:

  • San Jose, California

Qualifications

  • Current BS Student in an engineering, chemistry, or physics program graduating in May 2025
  • A tech enthusiast with a burning passion for innovation and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communicator, ready to collaborate with a diverse team.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world projects in a meaningful way.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in MATLAB, SAS, SQL, Excel, and or other data analysis tools
  • Located within driving distance of our Great Oaks (San Jose) office.
  • Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case to employ you (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case).
