Job Posting: Pre-Teach Math This Summer with TCP!(Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra II/Geometry, Algebra 2/Trig, Pre-calculus and AP Calculus teachers needed)LOCATION: Boston University, Emmanuel College Campus or UMASS Lowell CampusCONTENT: Pre-Teach math to middle or high school studentsRATE: $54.00/hour (for 5 hours/day, 5 days/week over three weeks)HOURS: 9am - 2pm dailyDATES: July 8 - 26, 2024 and/or July 29 - 16, 2024About TCPThe mission of The Calculus Project is to use research-supported strategies to increase the representation and success of Black, Hispanic and low-income students in advanced mathematics. There are seven distinct components that support students year-round, and one of these is pre-teaching in the summer. About the PositionTeachers who thrive at TCP love kids, are dedicated to their craft, embrace feedback, and constantly seek to build connections. As a summer teacher you will have 20-25 students and you will pre-teach the skills and concepts that they will be learning in the first semester in the fall.
You will have a partner teacher as well as student peer teachers to support your work. In addition to teaching mathematics you will chaperone students on field trips and will teach SEL activities planned by TCP. Teachers can work one or both of the two sessions.Responsibilities- Plan and implement math curriculum with middle or high school students - Maintain regular communication with supervisor and parents regarding student progress- Develop formative and summative measurement tools to evaluate student progression- Attend a paid workshop on planning and developing curricula and lessonsQualifications- Bachelors Degree- Teaching experience and experience working with adolescents preferred- Experience working effectively with students and staff of various cultures and linguistic backgrounds- Creativity and ability to foster curiosity and excitement about learning mathematicsTCP is committed to a diverse workplace and to ensuring that all of its programs and facilities are accessible to all members of the public.
