Register and monitor students through online program

Design and communicate program parameters to registered students

Oversee individual student progress within program parameters

Communicate effectively with students and parents on student progress

Design activities and communication to maintain student engagement

Oversee implementation of required timeline

Monitor work completed

Supervise required testing

Provide assistance on individual basis to students

Experience working with high school students with diverse learning styles and academic needs

Experience with personalized learning strategies and activities to maintain engagement

Previous experience implementing an online Independent Study program with a large group of high school students in a variety of subject areas

Willingness to work as a team in planning for instruction, grouping students and administering pre- and post assessments based on SOL requirements

Willingness to participate in curriculum planning and professional learning prior to the beginning of summer school

Evidence of completed coursework in online instruction

Experience in delivering online instruction

Ability to work in-person

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Summer School Teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the Non-VRS equivalent rate - hourly rate or $35.52 per hour., whichever is higher. (Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employees creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).) Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $35.52 per hour. If you resign effective the last day of the school year, you will receive a flat rate of $35.52 per hour for teachers. Pay
