Nature of Work

Parks/Pipestem Resort State Park/Summers County Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor II (Park Maintenance Supervisor) and general supervision of the Park Superintendents and in close cooperation with other park staff, this position supervises and performs highly complex architectural and technical work assisting the Supervisor II with managing the maintenance department for Pipestem Resort State Park; providing direct supervision to both a skilled and unskilled labor force. The physical plan of Pipestem encompasses several large, diverse, and complex building and mechanical systems including two lodges, indoor pool, splash park, nature center, stables, cabins, and cottages, developed recreational areas, campgrounds, picnic shelters, restaurants, gift shops and residences; major infrastructure systems such as the HVAC system, boiler system, elevators, structural system, electrical and fire protection system, sewage plants, restaurant equipment systems, communications systems, information technology systems, phone systems, surveillance systems, as well as several miles of roadway and utilities. Work also includes project management and oversight including planning, designing, development, and timely completion of capital projects at Pipestem Resort State Park. Responsible for supervising all phases of multiple projects simultaneously. This position is also specifically responsible for the implementation, supervision, and performance of the preventive maintenance program for the lodges and cottages. Makes daily work assignments for all maintenance personnel, prepares weekly work schedules for 24-hour coverage of facilities, ensures compliance with BRIM and OSHA standards for safety, oversees maintenance and construction contracts, maintains all maintenance records, and schedules backflow prevention testing on the main water system. Performs related work as required. Regular attendance is required. 1 vacancy

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.

Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the area of assignment, one year of which must have been in a lead worker or administrative support capacity.

Substitution: Course work from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience up to four years for non-trade positions.

Substitution for Business/Trade Positions: Completion of a course accredited by the Department of Education may be substituted for experience at the rate of 1,080 hours per year. OR Completion of a related trade union-sponsored apprenticeship program may be substituted for equivalent amount of full-time experience.
