Open: March 11, 2026 — Closes: March 17, 2026 Overview This position is located in Fort Larned National Historic Site, in the Midwest Region. The Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist (Facility Manager) is a key member of the Management Team for Fort Larned and Nicodemus National Historic Sites. You will oversee maintenance and operation of historic and modern buildings, grounds, utilities, and fleet. Major Duties Collaborates with other management team members to plan and support park-wide priorities and initiatives, is involved in decisions affecting park policy and operations, and develops and implements park planning and management documents. Leads the maintenance division and oversees facilities budget. Responsible for asset inventories and condition assessments, fleet management, energy reporting, and maintenance administrative oversight and reporting. Supervises staff, creates work plans, prioritizes tasks, identifies and provides training, resolves issues, evaluates employee performance, and guides staff on various projects. Develops and executes facility projects, serves as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative, ensures work is compliant with environmental and historic preservation regulations as well as building and safety codes. Serves as a Collateral Duty Safety Officer, ensures safety training, conducts risk assessments, and implements safety compliance programs. Area Description / Information Fort Larned National Historic Site is located six miles west of Larned, Kansas. Shopping, schools, and a hospital are available in town. Larned is approximately 1⁄2 hour from Great Bend, with larger cities 1-21⁄2 hours away. Houses and apartments are available to rent or own in the nearby area. Fort Larned NHS does not have government housing. The area's elevation is 2,036 feet and the average annual rainfall is 23 inches. Summer temperatures sometimes exceed 100 degrees and winter temperatures of 20 degrees or lower are not uncommon. #J-18808-Ljbffr
