Supplier Quality Specialist Apply
Role Summary Reporting to the Materials Manager and collaborating closely with Quality, you’ll manage day-to-day supplier quality interactions, support incoming verification, and keep our approved supplier base strong, compliant, and continuously improving. What You’ll Do Supplier correspondence & containment: Lead communications with suppliers on NCR/NMCR and RMA requests; drive root‑cause/corrective actions and timely closure, including documenting evidence and photographing defects for clear communication. Scorecards: Maintain supplier scorecards (with support from the Materials Manager), follow up on gaps, and track corrective actions. Supplier QMS reviews: Conduct supplier visits to review their QMS and follow up on action plans to align with AS9100D/ISO 9001 expectations. Approved Supplier List (ASL): Own onboarding, records, and periodic performance/compliance reviews to keep the ASL current. Incoming verification: Perform select incoming inspections, assist with material containment, and help review First Article Inspections (FAIs) and Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) for incoming materials. Purchasing flow‑downs: Support Purchasing to ensure supplier requirements are properly flowed down on purchase orders. Travel: Visit suppliers as needed – company vehicle on site for use of these visits. Be flexible to work with a variety of teams within Wayne Wire, to build us for success. What You’ll Bring Quality & Supplier Development: 1+ year in supplier quality or quality assurance within manufacturing; aerospace exposure is a plus. Solid RCA/CA methods (5 Whys/8D) and clear supplier communications. Working knowledge of AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015 and QMS documentation practices. Purchasing/Sourcing Collaboration: Experience partnering with Purchasing/Sourcing on PO flow‑downs, supplier selection/approval, and follow‑through on NCR/RMA returns and chargebacks; comfortable discussing lead‑time, quality, and cost trade‑offs with suppliers (and reflecting outcomes on scorecards). Inspection Basics: Comfortable using measurement tools/microscopes and photographing defects to clearly convey findings to suppliers. Education: High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Regulatory: Eligible to work with information controlled under ITAR. Excel Proficiency (Entry to Mid-Level) Confident with PivotTables/PivotCharts, filters/slicers, and Conditional Formatting for trend and Pareto analysis. Comfortable with lookups such as XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH; using Text to Columns, Flash Fill, and Data Validation to clean and standardize supplier data. Able to build clean, reusable reports (e.g., supplier scorecards, NCR/RMA trackers) and summarize data for weekly reviews. Physical & Work Requirements May sit for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; frequent communication and visual acuity for inspections and documentation.
