Duration: 24+ Months on W2 Contract
Summary:
The Supply Chain Logistics Specialist position at Gilead involves supporting the company's Clinical and Commercial manufacturing operations by coordinating the global transportation of raw materials, API, and commercial products. The role focuses on ensuring smooth logistics operations for manufacturing and distribution while working with internal teams, freight forwarding partners, cold chain solutions providers, and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Shipment Coordination: Organize multi-modal shipments and prepare necessary documentation for both domestic and international deliveries.
- Batch Selection & Monitoring: Select and manage batches for shipment to assigned sites, monitoring reorder points with drug product CMOs.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve discrepancies in global shipments by collaborating with suppliers.
- Material Handling: Oversee material disposal processes and coordinate sample shipments.
- System Data Tracking: Maintain and update records in logistics systems (Oracle, SAP) and provide best practice recommendations.
- Shipment Analysis: Analyze shipment tracking, customs invoice accuracy, and import documentation to support Supply Chain activities.
- Inventory Adjustments: Initiate or receive requests for inventory changes, adjusting shipments, invoicing, or stock movements as needed.
- Schedule Management: Track progress, adjust schedules, and communicate any changes due to production conditions or inventory availability.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other departments to identify future business needs and adjust logistics plans accordingly.
Requirements:
- Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in supply chain logistics or a related field, with a Bachelor's degree (BS or BA).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle both routine and semi-routine tasks, recognizing deviations from accepted practices and proposing solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, cGMPs, and logistics processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supply Chain Knowledge: Understanding of transportation logistics, trade compliance, customs, and FDA requirements.
- Certifications: APICS certification or relevant coursework is preferred.
- System Knowledge: Experience with Oracle and/or SAP.
- Cold Chain Expertise: Familiarity with cold chain and pharmaceutical shipping requirements.
