JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary
The SLS Technician (Supported Living Services) supports participants with developmental and intellectual disabilities, as well as moderate to severe behavioral challenges. They provide skill training, assessment, counseling, intervention, and advocacy to empower participants. The technician must work well under pressure and manage sudden behavior changes. The job site is located at the participant's home or in the community as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Personal support for participants emphasizes increasing community access (i.e., mobility training)
  • Addressing physical and emotional health and wellness and increasing personal care (i.e., bathing, habit training, dressing skills, etc.)
  • Personal support services will include home-based training that addresses housekeeping and cleaning, cooking, and preparing meals.
  • Financial budgeting support and money management planning.
  • Establishing and developing a personal network of peers, increasing, and developing functional behaviors.
  • Increasing the menu of reinforcers and reinforcing activities.
  • Increasing communication skills.
  • Within scope-of-practice guidelines, provides direct participant care, participant support, educational programs, and case management services for participants.
  • Participate in planning and implementing treatment plans.
  • Chart & report any significant changes in condition & general progress of participants to Program Director.
  • Facilitate groups on psychiatric topics relevant to participants needs.
  • Discuss & collaborate with other healthcare professionals, regarding issues & ensuring continuity of care.
  • Document all services pursuant to funding source directives, company protocol & HIPAA compliance requirements.
  • Completes all documentation within the timelines established by te company.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings to providing necessary input for participants care.
  • Demonstrate creativity with participants across all activities that develop useful, job-related skills & social skills.
  • Facilitate positive interactions with peers, coworkers, supervisor, and families.
  • Facilitate participant motivation when teaching and learning about the participant(s) through preference assessments.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws when working with participants across the course of each day.
  • Present effective and confidential communication that is professional and respectful when working with peers, participants, case manager(s), and the leadership team (i.e., Program Director, Executive Director, ect.).
  • Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior with participants, families, service coordinators, other staff members of organization linked to Liberty Behavioral & Community Services, Inc.
  • Check and respond to email within 24 hours. Return calls and reply to text messages within appropriate time frames to immediately service the business needs at Liberty and the needs of participants.
  • Have fun with participants while maintaining professional boundaries while teaching functional skills that they need.

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Overnight shift
  • Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Pomona, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Day Shift (Preferred)
  • Night Shift (Preferred)

Education

Highschool Diploma

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Must be able to successfully complete a background screening.
  • Must be over 21 years of age
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 Lbs.
  • Must be able to utilize a company issued smart phone & tablet to complete time management requirements, documentations, trainings, emails, and correspondence, ect.
  • Maintain current CPI Certification
  • Maintain current CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Minimum 1-year experience working as DSP staff or SLS Technicians
  • DSP1 & DSP2 certification required
  • Ability to work independently, use good judgment, and remain calm in crisis situations.
