Job Description
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2+ years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A skilled surgical technologist is essential within the operating room to support surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists during procedures. This role requires precise anticipation of surgical instrument needs to ensure seamless operations and minimize delays. The technologist will also manage surgical equipment and maintain the sterile field, collaborating closely with the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the surgical field, providing necessary instruments and supplies such as sterile linens, saline, lights, and suction machines.
- Monitor and assist with surgical equipment, including machinery related to vital sign observation.
- Assemble, transport, and retrieve surgical tools, ensuring that all equipment is accounted for post-procedure.
- Inspect, decontaminate, maintain, and repair surgical instruments while keeping accurate inventory records.
- Provide pre- and post-surgery patient care, including shaving, transporting, and dressing application.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to facilitate efficient surgery flow.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NBSTSA certification (must be submitted with application).
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (required with application).
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital setting.
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts effectively.
- Experience in community hospital settings preferred.
- Compliance with submission guidelines is mandatory for consideration.
