Prepares patients, rooms and equipment for pending surgical procedures. Assists during those procedures as part of the surgical team./ppEssential Functions and Responsibilities:/pulliPrepares operating rooms, ensuring that all equipment and supplies needed for the procedure are properly disinfected, assembled and in working order./liliEnsures the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in operating room./liliProvides supportive care during the pre-operative phase./liliPrepares patients skin for surgery; moves and positions patients in the operating room; monitors vital signs and observes status./liliDuring surgery scrub functions include passing sterile surgical equipment to surgeons, may cut sutures, tracking items used/performing instrument counts, collecting and labeling specimens taken and helping dress a patients wounds. May transport patient after procedure./liliEnsures that operating rooms are clean, sterile and stocked prior to next procedure./liliPerforms clerical duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining logs, pulling up and/or entering patient information, doing inventory and supporting the administrative and clerical staff as needed./liliDelivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families./liliEnsures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA./liliMaintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols/liliPrepares labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum (LDRP) rooms ensuring that all equipment and supplies needed are properly disinfected, assembled and in working order./liliPrepares sterile delivery tables ensuring that all equipment and supplies needed for a vaginal delivery are properly disinfected, assembled and in working order./liliEnsures that newborn warmers are stocked and in working order in LDRP room./liliEnsures that LDRP rooms are clean and stocked prior to next admission./liliPerforms other related duties as required and directed./li/ulpQualifications:/pulliHigh school diploma or equivalent./liliCompletion of an accredited surgical technology training program./liliOne month of job-related experience and/or training./liliBLS certification - American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent/liliIf working in the Family Birthing Center, must possess a diploma, certificate or Associates degree in Surgical Technology./lili6 months of Surgical Technologist experience in a Surgical Center/OBGYN environment/li/ulpPreferred:/pulliOne year of experience in a Surgical Center/OBGYN environment/li/ulpKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:/pulliA basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, anatomy, surgical techniques and equipment, coding procedures for surgical technologist practice scope./liliExcellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills./liliWorking knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique./liliFamiliarity with electronic medical health care record systems./liliAbility to handle multiple requests and prioritize appropriately./liliAbility to work in stressful situations./li/ulpEqual Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans/ppWe are committed to encouraging and sustaining a work environment free of unlawful harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation.
