Certified Surgical Tech OR (Travel) | Watertown, NY

Role snapshot

• Location: Watertown, NY

• Shift: 11:00 AM 7:30 PM (8-hour evenings)

• Weekend, call, and holidays: Required

• Call-back expectation: Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes when called in

• 100-mile radius rule: Candidate must meet facility radius requirement

• Travel experience: Mandatory

Must-have requirements (non-negotiable)

• Active CST certification (must be certified)

• Prior travel surgical tech experience

• OR scrub experience (strong scrubbing background)

• Ortho case experience

• DaVinci/robotic experience

• BLS (required)

Preferred / additional qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Certified Surgical Tech program preferred OR current NYS LPN license eligible (facility-specific acceptance may apply)

• Approved pharmacology course OR prior medication experience + successful completion of medication exam

• Knowledge of cleaning/sterilization/disinfection for OR instrumentation/equipment

• Continuing education: 15 CEUs/year

• May be asked to precept/train new staff

Key responsibilities

• Work under direct RN supervision assisting in care and preparation of surgical patients per hospital/department policy

• Function as scrub personnel: maintain sterile field, anticipate needs, respond quickly and precisely during procedures

• Prepare and maintain OR room: ensure equipment/instrumentation is sterile, functioning, and safe

• Support surgeons during procedures; assist with departmental duties as assigned

• Travel work history (facility names, dates, unit/OR types)

• Confirmation of 100-mile radius compliance (current address + acknowledgment)

• Call availability confirmation: weekends/holidays + 30-minute call-in arrival

• Two references (ideally recent OR leaders)

• Any medication/pharmacology documentation if applicable.
