We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to join our growing team in Hillsdale, NJ. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who thrives in a dynamic, small-company environment and has a strong background in residential land surveying, construction support, and topographic surveys.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute small lot surveys, elevation certificates, and residential construction stakeout projects.
  • Perform fieldwork for topographic surveys, stream elevation certificates, and related tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate daily survey tasks, completing 3–4 projects per day (or 2 for larger topographic surveys).
  • Operate modern survey equipment, including robotic total stations, GPS units, and data collectors.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality in data collection and documentation for private jobs, including work with architects.
  • Communicate effectively with office staff to meet project deadlines and client needs.
  • Start and end each day at the company office with no long-distance travel requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of field surveying experience, including leadership of survey crews.
  • Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software; experience with robotic total stations is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential surveys, construction stakeout, and elevation certificates.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a two-person crew.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple projects daily.
  • Valid driver's license required.
