Job Description:

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation and presentation. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards and delight our customers. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, collaborating with other chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards.
  • Select and source high-quality ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality in all dishes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan menus and create new sushi offerings.
  • Ensure proper food handling techniques are followed to maintain food safety standards.
  • Assist in catering events as needed, preparing sushi platters for large gatherings.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi-making techniques.
  • Familiarity with food handling regulations and best practices in a restaurant setting.
  • Proficiency with kitchen tools, including knives and other sushi preparation equipment.
  • Experience in menu planning and catering is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
