Switchboard Operator/ReceptionistThe Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of State Training School (STS) is seeking a Switchboard Operator/Receptionist to join our team! This is a full-time position scheduled Friday - Monday, 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. This position may be offered occasional overtime. The Switchboard Operator/Receptionist has no direct contact with students. The basic function of this position is to operate as the complete communication command post for security, movement, emergencies, and visitors. This position responds to all calls for assistance by relaying the appropriate information in a timely fashion and answering all incoming phone calls. In addition, the Switchboard Operator/Receptionist will direct traffic and visitors to their desired locations. Appropriate candidates are reliable, can multitask under pressure, are able to maintain composure, and can effectively prioritize calls and actions. Excellent candidates also have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Job functions include:Answering phone calls and relaying the caller to an appropriate source.Documenting movement of students and staff on or off grounds.Documenting visitors.Documenting emergency responses.Being the central communications operator for the entire operation at the State Training School.Contacting law enforcement as appropriate.Filing documents.Assisting in mission-critical responses and coordinating as a focal point of operations.Logging and distributing emergency response supplies.Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.
