Job Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: The Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems and computer related services are working efficiently and are highly available to end users.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE:

  • Install new & rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Build, Maintain and Monitor corporate level Storage Area Networks (SAN).
  • Build, Maintain and Monitor corporate level VMWare environment.
  • Contribute to and maintain system procedures and standards.
  • Maintain Microsoft Active Directory Environment including Group Policy, Roles, etc.
  • Creation and Deletion of End Users within systems
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system improvements. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform daily backup operations and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up.
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as per policy.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Systems Administrator I would have a high school diploma plus one to two years business, vocational, trade school, or college level work and have 18 months - 3 years of experience. They have a basic knowledge of enterprise level systems and can perform most task independently with some supervision.
